March 10, 1992 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />Mr. Joseph MacHatton, JMA Properties <br />621 Lincolnway East <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />PROPOSAL <br />The owner wishes to convert the building into office space on the <br />first level while retaining rental units on the second level. <br />The proposals in this application are aimed at making the <br />building marketable for these purposes. <br />Proposal 1: <br />Reduce size of one window on south-east side. Install wood 1/1 <br />double hung sash. <br />Proposal 4: <br />Install aluminum combination storm windows and doors. <br />STANDARDS <br />II. Existinq Structures <br />A) Buildinq Materials <br />1) Required <br />Existing exterior building materials shall be <br />retained. ... The existing or original architectural <br />detail around windows, porches, doors and eaves <br />should be retained or replaced by replicas of the <br />same design and materials when deteriorated beyond <br />repair. <br />2) Recommended <br />Whenever possible, the original building materials <br />should be restored. <br />Aluminum or vinyl siding may be used when it is the <br />only feasible alternative to maintainina the <br />original surface material. When used on wood <br />surfaces this siding should be the same size and <br />style as the oriainal wood.
