Main (Studebaker Administration <br />Building- -First Reading) <br />Mr. Holycross promised the HPC a full report <br />next month on the historic /architectural <br />significance of the Studebaker administration <br />building. He said the building was designed by <br />Solon S. Beman, who also designed Pullman, <br />Illinois; and that there was an interesting <br />mural on its third floor. For this and other <br />reasons, the staff was very committed to <br />obtaining landmark status for the building. <br />Should local landmark status be granted, he <br />said, the staff planned to ask the City to <br />nominate the building for the National <br />Register. <br />b. Darden Road Bridge -- Update <br />Mr. Holycross said he felt there was still <br />plenty of time to act, but it was necessary to <br />show the County that the HPC was still <br />committed to saving the bridge. He was <br />pursuing funding and was trying to ascertain <br />how much money might become available through <br />the Indiana Dept. of Transportation from the <br />Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency <br />Act of 1991. <br />c. Southern Hotel -- Update <br />Mr. Oxian reported that another 2 -month <br />demolition postponement had been secured. <br />Much new information had emerged, and the <br />Council had tabled the issue because it was <br />agreed that more study -time was needed. <br />Mr. Herendeen questioned why the city <br />8 <br />
