WASHINGTON <br />The tree being petitioned for removal is a Su Map .,saccharum), approximately 20' in diameter. g ar p le <br />(Acer <br />an example of a 'hard' maple, and is one of the mostrdesirable <br />species of shade trees because of its formally upright growth <br />habit and superior fall color. This particular specimen may be <br />40 -50 years old which would indicate the maturity and character <br />needed to give it some historical significance. <br />However, this particular tree has. apparently been suffering for <br />a number of years. There appears to be a vas , <br />wood visible in the top and mid sections of the tree, and he ead <br />owners have indicated that some major limbs have already come_ <br />- - - -- dorm_ - -- Whlle -the dead wood could -•-be- removed--to- overcome safety, <br />Problems, the effects on the long term appearance of the tree <br />would be sustantial.
