a. Tuck -point foundation. Mr. Pastor reported <br />that the foundation had loose mortar, of a patchy <br />and incorrect type. Standards require compatible <br />mortar and regular maintenance;.he therefore <br />recommended approval. <br />Mrs. Sporleder moved to approve the tuck -pointing; <br />Mrs. Choitz seconded; motion carried unanimously. <br />b. Demolish back porch. Mr. Pastor reported that <br />the back porch is deteriorated and the foundation <br />settling. It is not original to the house; it <br />cannot be seen from the street. The staff <br />therefore recommended its demolition and urged <br />the Commission to make proposals as to how the <br />newly -exposed facade might be finished. <br />Mrs. Sporleder moved to allow removal of the porch <br />and to have the exposed back wall secured in a <br />manner consistent with the surrounding wall. <br />Mrs. Dennen seconded the motion; motion carried <br />unanimouslv. <br />c. Reroof house with 3 -in -1 tab asphalt shingles. <br />Automatically approved. <br />d. Replace gutters and eaves troughs with <br />contemporary counterparts. Mr. Pastor reported <br />nothing in the standards specifically mentioning <br />gutters and said they had a negligible impact on <br />the exterior appearance. <br />Mrs. Sporleder moved to approve the replacement. <br />using anv materials that seemed appropriate. <br />Mrs. Choitz seconded. Motion carried unanimouslv. <br />e. Rebuild chimney with new brick. Mr. Pastor <br />reported that the existing chimney was crumbling <br />The staff recommended replacement, provided the <br />color and texture of the bricks and mortar was <br />as closely duplicated as possible as well as the <br />chimney's original proportions. Mrs. Sporleder <br />moved to approve; Mrs. Dennen seconded; motion <br />approved unanimouslv. <br />Questioned by Mrs. Choitz, Mr. Holycross affirmed that <br />the staff would work with Mr. MacHatton on the project. <br />3. 325 W. North Shore Drive --Local Historic District. <br />Mr. Pastor reported that the owner, Mr. Yeandel, wished <br />to enclose the second -story rear balcony. Aluminum <br />siding would be used to match existing siding. A 6/6 <br />
