South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - September 6, 1996
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
b. continued....
Inc. stated that Lex Investments, Inc.
owns the building located at 509 W.
Washington. They have been interested in
demolishing the building that previously
was on this property for years and would
like to adquire the lot for low- density use.
They serve elderly clients who appreciate
the idea of a one story building. They
have made a substantial investment
totaling approximately $340,000 in their
present site. Lex Investments, Inc.
anticipates at the time of completion of
the parking lot they will have invested
over $30,000 to $35,000 into the project.
They appreciate the idea of the
requirements of the City with landscaping
recognizing that they are not in a parking
environment. They would like to
contribute to the greenspace objective.
Lex Investments, Inc. would integrate the
parking lot into the present existing curb
cut reducing the likelihood of any
accidents in that area because of the
proximity of the lot itself to the
intersection of Washington and Williams
Street.
Mrs. Auburn asked Mr. Knepp if they
have any parking spaces at all with their
current site?
Mr. Knepp stated that they have parking
behind the building that is occupied by
their staff.
Mrs. Auburn asked how many spaces they
have.
C; -13-
