TO: Historic Preservation Commission Members FROM: Lori Dixon, Survey Manager RE: Studebaker Corridor Committee Meeting DATE: September 14, 1989 The Studebaker Corridor Committee met on September 13 to develop a position on the various properties of the Studebaker Corridor and Fringe Area. The committee proposes the following position (all areas not specifically mentioned are to be redeveloped): Block A - Save Studebaker Administration Building, Transwestern Building (all or in part), and Vandalia Station. Block B - Redevelop Block C - Save the Borden Building. Block D - Save the Southern Hotel. Block E.- Redevelop Block F - Save the Campbell Box Company. A:i decision on the Wood Electric All residences in Blocks H, I, J, K, and M, with the exception of the Grove -Ebeling Residence (Block K - #22) should be moved into Block M or another neighborhood (such as Monroe Park). .Building has nod. -yet. -been made. Block G.- Redevelop Block H - Redevelop Block I - Save Claeys Candy Company Block J - Redevelop Block K - Save the Grove -Ebeling Residence (1201 S. Lafayette - 422 on map) and the International Truck Building. Block L - Save the City Dairy/ South Bend Sanitary Milk Company Building. Block M - Redevelop Block N - Move South Bend Foundry Office (corner of Indiana and Lafayette); Redevelop rest of Block N. Block 0 - Decision on South_ Bend Pulley Company has not been made. Redevelop rest of Block 0. Block P - Redevelop Block Q - Save the Shetland Building and the Carpenter Shop. A decision on the Avanti and Newman/Altman Buildings has not been made. Preserve gates and guardhouse near Newman/Altman Building. All residences in Blocks H, I, J, K, and M, with the exception of the Grove -Ebeling Residence (Block K - #22) should be moved into Block M or another neighborhood (such as Monroe Park).
