Another exciting highlight of the National'Preservation Conference is the
ReHabitat exposition. The 100 exhibits will feature products, services, skills
and crafts for restoring and maintaining old and historic buildings and sites.
Kansas City is truly a surprising city. Famous for steaks, barbeques, and
jazz, Kansas City offers an abundance of historic preservation. The National
Trust is pleased to hold its General Sessions in the historic Folly Theatre.
Once a thriving Burlesque House, the theatre was completely refurbished in 1981
at a cost of $4.4 million. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places,
the Folly Theatre currently offers a year-round variety of intimate theatrical
experiences. Just outside Kansas City is Independence, M0, the home of Harry S.
Truman and houses one of the country's most interesting Presidential museums, the
Harry S. Truman Library and Museum.
The cost of registering for the conference is $145 per person for members
and $160 for non-members. The latter receive a one-year membership in the
National Trust. This price includes attendance at all business sessions,
concurrent sessions, workshops and exposition. Tours and social events are
additional.
For more information on this dynamic program, please write or call:
National Trust for Historic Preservation, National Preservation Conference,
1785 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20036 (202) 673-4000.
•
