Leszczynski <br />Director, Public Works February 19, 1986 <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />County -City Building Rm. 1123 <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />Attn: Joann Sporleder, President <br />Re: Street Lights on Riverside Dr. <br />Dear Ms. Sporleder: <br />3/86 <br />(219) 284-9251 <br />With regards to your letter dated February 5, 1986 concerning <br />street lights at four (4) locations on Riverside, I checked with <br />I & M and at the time of replacement, they did not have any old <br />style street lights to install, so they put in the fiberglass <br />poles. <br />With the upgrading of Angela, between Leeper and Notre Dame, <br />I & M has obtained three complete "old-style" light fixtures and <br />;.;poles. In order to replace these fixtures though, I & M is <br />charging $652.00 per light. We do not have the money to cover <br />this cost. Until such time as we can find the money, the fiber- <br />glass poles will remain.. <br />In the future, I have instructed I & M that whenever an <br />"old-style" light is knocked down in a historic district, they <br />will not replace it, if it is unrepairable, until we issue them <br />installation instructions. <br />If you have any further questions regarding this matter, <br />please do not hesitate to contact me. <br />JJP/slm <br />Sincerely, <br />Joseph J.
