4 <br />• <br />In June of 1985, approximately 35 buildings in downtown South <br />Bend were placed on the National Register as a Multiple Resource <br />Area. The application was done by the HPC staff. <br />A brochure outlining and explaining South Bend's neighborhood <br />historic districts was published with the help of grants and <br />donations. <br />The HPC staff produced a brochure on the Industrial Buildings <br />Project and Multi/media Presentation. The presentation was shown <br />to several groups in the area. <br />IX. STAFF <br />Ms. Karen Kiemnec continued her position as Director of the <br />Commission. She was chosen to be the representative for Indiana <br />for the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions and was <br />elected co -chairperson of the Indiana Alliance of Historic <br />District Commissions. Funding was retained for the <br />Administrative Assistant position held by Elizabeth Straw. In <br />addition, grants were awarded to the Commission to hire Ann <br />Crumlish as a research assistant to work on the County Summary <br />• Report from June until September. Part time secretarial help was <br />provided by June Hoffman and Kevin Butler continued to serve as <br />the Commission's attorney. Mrs. Schwartz served as the City <br />Attorney's representative to the Commission. <br />40 <br />
