APPENDIX "A" 4/86
historicpreservation commission
of south bend and st. joseph county
• ROOM 1123 COUNTY CITY BUILDING
south bend, indiana 46601 (219) 2849798
March 20, 1986
Joseph J. Pluta
Director
Division of Engineering
12th floor County/City Building
South Bend, IPJ 46601
Dear Mr. Pluta:
Thank you for your timely response to our letter of February 5, 1986 regarding
the fiberglass replacements of historic streetlights. We also appreciate
your instructions to I & M concerning replacement of historic streetlights in
historic districts in the future.
Concerning the lights along Riverside Drive, we feel that the City of South Bend
should not be required to pay a replacement charge of $625.00. We believe
such costs should be incurred by I & M. I & M was made aware of the pending
• district status along Riverside and of the concern for the lights by members
of this Commission in various conversations and at a January 8, 1986 meeting
attended by Mr. Phil McDonald.
We feel that the lights should be replaced by I & M to retain the unusual
historic character of the area and respectfully -request your assistance in
seeing that accomplished.
Sincerely,
Joann Sporleder
President
JS/J14H
cc: Mr. Richard Bennett, Chairperson
Riverside Drive, Historic District
Liaison Committee
•
