• <br />3 <br />Ms. Kiemnec read a letter from the Department of Code <br />Enforcement requesting a demolition permit for 601 Lincolnway <br />East (see Appendix A). Mr. Oxian made a motion to deny the <br />request based on five reasons which he enumerated (see <br />Appendix B); Mrs. Choitz seconded; motion carried. <br />3) Historic District Committee Meeting <br />Mrs. Choitz reported that the Historic District Committee met <br />and reviewed a draft prepared by the staff on the procedures <br />for districts. When those procedures are finished, she will <br />begin meeting with residents of the Riverside Drive area who <br />are interested in a district. <br />c. Historic Landmarks <br />1) Facade Easement Report <br />Mr. Oxian requested that the discussion on the Facade <br />Easement Program be tabled until the June meeting. <br />2) Darden Bridge <br />Ms. Straw reported that she is working on the National <br />Register nomination for the bridge. She indicated that the <br />Engineering Department at Notre Dame was not able to work on <br />the bridge study so she will contact Purdue University to see <br />if they might be interested. <br />3) Central High School - report <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that she and Mrs. Sporleder met on May <br />15 with Mr. Dick Gantz of the State Historic Preservation <br />Office, Ms. Martha Raymond of the Philadelphia National Park <br />Service Office, and Mr. James Childs, the project architect <br />to review the preliminary plans. No decisions were made. Ms. <br />Kiemnec stressed that the plans are still in the preliminary <br />phase. Mrs. Petrass indicated that her research on the <br />vocational building resulted in finding only the date and <br />architect of the building. She further indicated that the <br />building is in poor structural condition. Mrs. Sporleder <br />asked each Commissioner to forward their comments on the <br />project to the office for compilation by the staff. <br />4) First Reading for Landmark Designation for 227 Scott <br />Mr. Oxian presented 227 Scott St. for first reading for <br />landmark designation. <br />
