Page 3 <br />September 19, 1983 <br />I) Baugo Creek Park Site <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported, in response to the Commission's-inquiry,that there <br />are no historic buildings in the proposed Baugo Creek Park area. The <br />farmhouse.and barn have been extremely remodeled and the corncrib is in <br />poor condition. <br />2) 615 Edgewater <br />The owners are replacing the overhang on the north side of the house and <br />the pent eaves in the rear. Ms. Kiemnec approved the application. Mr. <br />Oxian made a motion that the repair work be closely watched by the Commission. <br />Mrs. Choitz seconded; motion passed. <br />3) 534 Edgewater <br />The porch, which was damaged by fire, will be repaired. All elements will <br />be exactly the same with the exception of the gutters. An exterior rather <br />than an interior system will be.used. Ms. Kiemnec approved the application. <br />g. Staff Report <br />1) Small Town Survey <br />The Small Town Survey Committee met to discuss recommendations to be made <br />to the Small Towns in the upcoming Summary. Report. The Committee agreed <br />and Mr. Oxian motioned that for New Carlisle and Walkerton, we would recom- <br />mend that they establish their own commission, for Roseland, Osceola, North <br />Liberty and Lakeville, that they come under our jurisdiction and the remain- <br />ing areas, no recommendation. Mrs. S ofleder seconded; motion passed. The <br />Committee also -agreed to assign to/co m�ttee the issue of what kind of <br />ordinance would be needed by the towns which come under our jurisdiction. <br />Mrs. Petrass seconded; motion passed. <br />2) Multiple Resource Area <br />Ms. Straw recommended that the building at 117 W. Colfax be added to the <br />Multiple Resource Area with an 11 rating because it seems to be the oldest, <br />extant commercial building in downtown South Bend. Mrs. Sporleder made a <br />motion to that effect; Mrs. Choitz seconded; motion passed. <br />11s. -Straw then.requested that the rating on 221 N'. Michigan be changed from <br />9 to 12 because of the architectural significance of the building.. Mrs. <br />Sporleder moved that the rating be changed from 9 to 11; Mrs. Choitz <br />seconded; motion passed. <br />3) Industrial Buildings Project <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that because Department of Interior funds are available <br />through the state and because the project is needed, she has put together a <br />grant proposal on an in-depth study of industrial buildings in_South Bend to <br />determine their eligibility for the National Register. The project would also <br />include funds to do a National Register nomination for the Studebaker Clubhouse <br />& Trees in Bendix Woods County Park (see Appendix B). She brought the pro- <br />posal up before the Executive Committee on August 26. Mr. Newburn made a <br />motion that the Commission submit the proposal for a grant to do an in-depth <br />study of Industrial Buildings in South Bend; Mr. Nimtz seconded; motion <br />passed. <br />4) Statewide Alliance Committee Meeting <br />Ms. Kiemnec will write up a report on the meeting for October's Commission <br />meeting. <br />5) Computer Course <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the Computer Program developed by Mrs. Delores <br />
