PART II Pre -Application Survey & Planning STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING FOR SURVEY & PLANNING PROJECTS National Park Service Historic Preservation Matching Grants-in-aid Program Administered by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology In order that a project consisting of PART I - An intense survey of South Bend industrial buildinqs to determine eligibility for the National Reqister PART II - A National Register application for the Studebaker Clubhouse and Trees may be considered for a National Park Service (NPS) Historic Preservation Plan- ning•Grant, the owner and/or sponsor (or his authorized representatives) in- dicate by their signatures that they have read and understand that: 1. This is a request for consideration for a grant and not a promise for funa- i^n through the NPS Program by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). 2. The applicant has the necessary authority to request consideration of this project by the Department of Natural Resources. 3. This is a matching program in which no more than fifty percent of the funds can be supplied through the NPS program. The sponsor's share (at least one-half) can be supplied by: a. Cash funds - supplied or acquired by the sponsor b. Donated time during the project period C. Donated materials. 4. No work covered in this application is to begin until the owner or sponsor has been notified in writing that funds have been awarded, and has accepted in writing the terms and conditions of the grant. 5. If a grant is received, the owner or sponsor will be responsible for supplying all necessary documentation for DNR approval. 6. If a grant is received, all obligations for material or work are to be paid by the owner or sponsor who will then receive reimbursement from the NPS through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, based on prior agreement and approval.
