Budget.& Finance <br />1) Community Development Proposal <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the Community Development Department has proposed <br />to fund $7,000 of the.$14,000 she requested for an administrative assistant. <br />(see Appendix'A) The request still needs to be reviewed Wednesday, October <br />21 by the Citizens Advisory Council as well as by the Common Council and <br />the Mayor. Ms. Kiemnec requested that if monies are available from the <br />U.S. Department of the Interior through the.Indiana Department of Natural - <br />Resources, she be allowed to pursue a $7,000 grant to match the Community <br />Development funds.. This would enable the Commission to hi.re..a full time <br />staff person. Mrs. Sporleder so moved; Mr. Newburn seconded. Motion <br />passed; Mr. Oxian abstained; Mrs. Choitz voted nay. <br />b. Historic Districts <br />1) Lincolnway East <br />Mrs. Choitz reported that she, Mr. Oxian ,and Ms. Kiemnec met with a com- <br />mittee of the neighborhood to discuss a local district. She said the three <br />of them explained what a district involves, discussed the standards and <br />boundaries and made suggestions of how the neighborhood might proceed with <br />their designation. The boundaries agreed on by the HPC committee and the <br />neighborhood are Lincolnway East, Vernon, the railroad tracks, and the <br />property lines behind the houses on the west side of Miami. First reading <br />was held on the Lincolnway East District. <br />She further reported that Mrs. .Brookins is still'interested in a West LaSalle <br />District but will not be,working on_it until after the,;_November elections. <br />Mrs. Sporleder mentioned_.that she was approached by residents in the East <br />Jefferson potential historic district. Mrs. Choitz reported that the <br />districts decided on by the HPC as priorities for 1983 were LaSalle, Near <br />East, and Lincolnway East. No action was taken. <br />c. Historic Landmarks <br />1) Report on 52228 Gumwood <br />Mr. Oxian reported that the County Council had passed the landmark rescission <br />for all of the buildings at 52228 Gumwood. <br />2) 1007 Riverside Drive <br />Mr. Oxian requested that the residence at 1007 Riverside Drive be listed for: <br />fil-st_reading'.for.landmark status at the November meeting. <br />
