Public Relations and Community Education <br />1) County Maps <br />Mr. Oxian reported that a few changes need to be made but hopes that they <br />will be completed by the July Studebaker Driver's Club Meet here in South <br />Bend. <br />2) Studebaker Tour Project <br />The Commission had 100 copies made of the list of Studebaker -related build- <br />ings in the area for the Studebaker Driver's Club meet in July. Copies were <br />distr-ibuted_to_Commi_ssion-member.s_(see_Appendix-B) <br />f. Environmental Impact Statement <br />1) 709 Arch <br />- The Commission reviewed the plans of the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Spees, <br />and their contractor, Mr. Glen Saha, for the construction of a commercial <br />building behind the house. The Commission suggested that although it has <br />no objections to a commercial structure in that space, the proposed plans <br />are not in agreement with the standards for the Edgewater Place Historic <br />District. It was further suggested that the owners revise the plans to <br />include materials, style, and proportions more in keeping with the standards <br />and submit a revised plan at the July 18 meeting. The Certificate of Appro- <br />priateness Committee and/or the Commission's Architectural Historian agreed <br />to meet with the owners for discussion and suggestions before the July meeting <br />if the owners would like. <br />h. Staff Report <br />1) Small Town Survey <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that she has completed the updating of the County Survey <br />and maps anddhas six small town h1stories left to complete. The work is <br />progressing as scheduled. <br />7. Old Business <br />No report. <br />8. New Business <br />Mr. Oxian reported that he will bring up the fountain on the triangle of land opposite <br />Colfax School for first reading for landmark designation at the July meeting. <br />9. Hearing of Visitors <br />No report. <br />10. Announcements and Miscellaneous Matters <br />a. Jobs Bill Grant Recipients <br />Ms. Kiemnec announced the three local recipients of grants (see Appendix C). <br />b. HPC Architectural Historian <br />Ms. Kiemnec announced the expiration on July 18, 1983 of Mrs. Sporleder's term <br />on the Commission. <br />c. New Books <br />Ms. Kiemnec announced the titles of two new books which she purchased for the <br />
