Page 3 <br />September 20, 1982 <br />plank siding and a concrete slab foundation and she gave him prelim- <br />inary approval. Mrs. Sporleder made a motion to -approve the Certi- <br />ficate of Appropriateness for 730 East Bronson; Mrs. Choitz seconded; <br />motion approved. <br />3) Certificate of Appropriateness Procedures <br />Mr. Oxian made a motion to adopt the Certificate of Appropriateness <br />Procedures (see Appendix A and B); Mrs. DeLaruelle seconded; motion <br />carried. <br />4) Edgewater Place <br />Mrs. DeLaruelle reported that the owners of 556.River Avenue are <br />replacing windows without a Certificate of Appropriateness, and the <br />owners of 509 Edgewater have replaced their garage roof also without <br />a Certificate of Appropriateness. Mr. Oxian made a motion that a <br />letter be sent to anyone violating the HPC standards for landmarks and <br />districts. Mrs. DeLaruelle seconded; motion passed. It was suggested <br />that Ms. Kiemnec draft a form letter for the Commission's approval <br />at the next meeting. <br />g. Staff Report <br />1) Small Town Survey <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that Pat Kridler, the intern from IUSB, has com- <br />pleted the histories for Notre Dame buildings for the Small Town Survey. <br />She requested that the Commission hire Ms. Kridler to also do a general <br />history of the campus since she is familiar with the material. The <br />project would involve about ten hours of work at $3.50 per hour. Mr. <br />Oxian made a motion to approve the project; Mrs. Choitz seconded; motion <br />passed. <br />2) Conferences <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that she -was unable to attend the Indiana University <br />Preservation Conference in'Bloomington and requested that she be allowed <br />to attend a Victoriaih Interiors Conference in Philadelphia on October <br />16th instead. The registration fee is $40.00. Mr. Newburn made a motion <br />to allow the Planner to attend the Victorian Interiors Conference and to <br />pay her registration fee; Mrs. Choitz seconded; motion passed. <br />7. Old Business <br />a,: Downtown Buildings <br />Mr. Oxian reported that he met with Mr. Jon Hunt of Redevelopment as well <br />as the Common Council Committee which is reviewing the Downtown Building <br />Ordinance and all agreed that the matter be postponed until September 27th. <br />A change has been made in the proposed ordinance that gives the property <br />owner the right of appeal to the Common Council. - <br />8. New Business <br />No report. <br />9. Hearing of Visitors <br />Leslie Choitz, the Executive Director of Southhold Restorations, showed a multi- <br />media program which had been prepared by Southhold called, "Edgewater Place: <br />A Neighborhood Reflected." She informed the.Commission'that_the program will <br />be shown at the September 26th Edgewater Place Home Tour and will beavailable <br />to local groups. <br />
