Public Relations & Community Education <br />1) County Maps the <br />Mr. Hayes reported that/Public Relations & Community Education Committee <br />had met with Southhold Restoration's Committee to discuss the possible <br />reprinting of the County Auto Tour Maps. The Committee agreed to keep <br />the same format -:..and ask Crumlish/Sporleder & Associates to do the revisions <br />for us if Southhold can fund the project. Southhold will discuss the <br />printing costs, which are expected to be about $550, at its November 18th <br />board meeting and let the Commission know its decision. <br />2) Camera <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the best price on a 35mm camera was at Gene's <br />Camera Store for an Olympus OMIOFC for $189.95 minus a $30 rebate. They <br />also have a sale on the case which is normally $24.95 and is now selling <br />for $19.95. Mr. Oxian made a motion that the Commission purchase the <br />Olympus; Mrs. DeLaruelle seconded; motion carried. <br />f. Environmental Impact Statement <br />1) Certificate of Appropriateness <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that Mike Vaerewyck of 524 River Avenue, who was <br />given a Certificate of Appropriateness for a new .garage in July, would like <br />to make some changes in the plan. Rather than an.L-shaped structure, he <br />wants to make it almost square with a gable roof. The other features will <br />remain the same as in the Certificate of Appropriateness (i.e. clapboard <br />siding, wooden door).. Ms. Kiemnec approved the plan and put an addendum <br />on his Certificate of Appropriateness. Mr. Oxian made a motion that the <br />Certificate of Appropriateness be accepted; Mrs. Sporleder seconded;motion <br />carried. <br />2) Violation of Standards Notification <br />Ms. Kiemnec read Mrs. Choitz' suggestion for a Violation of Standards Noti- <br />fication letter.(see Appendix B). Mr. Oxian made a motion to send Mrs. <br />Choitz! letter to the Commission's attorney for his suggestions and then <br />send it to future... violators; Mr. Hayes seconded; motion carried; Mrs. Spor- <br />leder voted nay. <br />g. Staff Report <br />1) Small Town Survey <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that she has only nine buildings left to survey at <br />Notre Dame. <br />2) City Survey Update <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that she had added two buildings to the entry: <br />201 N. Ironwood - S/11 Austin & Shambleau <br />16977 Adams Rd. bank barn - S/11 <br />and changed the rating on .1133 N. Allen from C/9 to S/11 because it is an <br />Ernest Young designed house. <br />7. Old Business <br />a. Downtown Buildings <br />Mr. Oxian reported that the Common Council has tabled the Ordinance for the <br />Demolition Ban of Downtown Buildings and requested that the Redevelopment <br />Staff help the HPC notify the owners of the benefits of national or local <br />designation. <br />
