May 19, 1980 <br />Page 3 <br />Historic Districts and Standards <br />West North Mr. Stamper,briefed the Commission on the West• -North Shore Drive <br />Shore Drive National Register Nomination. Mr. Stamper requested a directive <br />from the Commission to support the West North Shore Drive District, <br />in their nomination. <br />Mrs. Price stated this touches on the problem of defining and guide- <br />lines criteria, for eligibility of districts, which in general <br />has not yet been resolved. <br />Mrs. Sporleder stated this was not the case, since the district <br />itself has decided to write the National Register Nomination, and <br />not the Commission. <br />Mr. Oxian stated the Commission set a similar precedent in the Park <br />Avenue District National Register Nomination. Which Mr. Stamper <br />helped to review. <br />Mr. Stamper stated the Commission should support them in their national <br />register nomination, since this a selling point in developing local <br />districts. <br />• Mr. Oxian felt the Commission should give Mr. Stamper a directive to <br />support the West North Shore Drive District Nomination, with the <br />stipulation the Commission will make final recommendations, when <br />the Commission criteria is complete. <br />Mr. Newburn moved and Mrs. Sporleder seconded, the Commission give a <br />dirctive to Mr. Stamper to support and review the West North Shore <br />Drive Nomination. The motion carried 6 yes and 2 no. <br />Edgewater <br />Mr. Stamper stated the Edgewater Place survey has been completed in <br />Place <br />the last two weeks. He questioned if the Commission should have <br />Mr. Allsop draw up the legal description.and ordinance for the <br />Edgewater Place District. <br />Mr. Oxian moved that Mr. Allsop draw up the boundaries for the <br />Edgewater Place District, seconded by Mrs. Price, and carried. <br />West <br />Mr. Stamper met with Mr. Brookins informally, and discussed surveys <br />LaSalle <br />in the West LaSalle District. Mr. Stamper told Mr. Brookins that the <br />Commission may ask the West LaSalle District to incorporate with <br />West Washington as a local district. <br />Mr. Stamper further stated the redraft of guideline books and definitions <br />has been completed. <br />The Resolution of Proceedures has been redrawn by Mr. Allsop, Mr. <br />Stamper said. Further corrections have yet to be finalized. <br />No further report <br />
