March 17, 1980 <br />Page 3 <br />Historic Landmarks and Standards <br />Mr. Oxian moved that 322 West Washington and 720 West Washington be <br />declared landmarks. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Sporleder. Mrs. <br />Sporleder stated there could be a problem of spot landmarks with <br />no districts. The motion carried 4 yes 1 no, with Mrs. Sporleder <br />casting the no vote. <br />Mr. Stamper presented a request by Mr. Brown of Tippecanoe Place, for <br />review and Certificate of Appropriateness for an outdoor sign <br />(Appendix 2). <br />Mr. Reinke questioned the lighting fixture in front of the sign. <br />It was felt that the light fixture should be recessed and lettering <br />shown should be used if a more appropriate script could not be <br />found . A Certificate of Appropriateness will be issued subject to <br />these conditions. Mr. Oxian moved and Mr. Reinke seconded. Hearing of Visitors <br />Mrs. Brookins stated that the South Bend School Board will be.accepting <br />bids for the sale of Central High School. A prominent developer,Amer'ican <br />Investment Corp.,would like to convert the school into elderly housing <br />units. This, she said overlooked an obvious appropriate use as a magnet school. <br />
