Page 4 July 20, 1981 <br />stated that he would contact:MrLi-Allsop about the matter. <br />Public Relations and Community Education <br />No Report <br />Environmental Impact Statements <br />No Report <br />Staff Report <br />Mr. Stamper gave a report on the progress of the city survey, indicating <br />that it was on schedule. He also reported on the Small Town Survey <br />indicating that it was on schedule. <br />Karen Kiemnec, the new Preservation Planner was introduced to the Commission. <br />Pam Chadwick, the Commission's Secretary was thanked for her work for the <br />Commision. Her CETA-funded position will be terminated July 31, 1981. <br />Old Business <br />Mr. Stamper reviewed the Twyckenham Bridge including a letter sent to the <br />Street Department concerning salt -use on bridges. He stated that there <br />was no letter sent to the County Commissioners about retaining the historic.. <br />character of the bridge because of the accident. <br />Mr. Nimtz commended Mrs. Price for her work well done for Historic Preservation <br />Week. <br />Mr. Oxian made a recommendation that the Commission should consider establishing <br />a Historic District in the Near East Jefferson area. Mrs. Price asked that <br />we set saide this matter until another time. <br />Mr. Stamper presented. an article from Historic Preservation on Historic <br />Districts. <br />Mrs. Price received a letter from the Indiana University Conference Committee <br />requesting that the Commission co-sponsor a reception for the annual Fall <br />Meeting. Mr. Nimtz suggested that Southhold Restorations and Southold Heritage <br />share in the expenses of this, but that the Commission would be unable to. A <br />motion was made by Mrs. Sporleder that we cooperate with them but cannot help <br />monetarily. It was seconded by Mr. Oxian and it carried. <br />Mrs. Price asked for a caucas to be held on August 3 and that all the Commission <br />members be present. It will start at 7:00 p.m. and adjourn at 9:00 p.m. and <br />will be held on the 11th floor. <br />There was discussion on the National Trust Convention. Mr. Nimtz made a <br />motion that the Commission Planner and one or two Commission members receive <br />payment for the registration fee. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Sporleder <br />and it passed. <br />
