April 20, 1981 page 2 6. continued Historic Districts A. Edgewater Place Mr. Stamper reported on the April 8th Edgewater Place organi- zation meeting which he, Mrs. Price and Mr. Oxian attended. Mr. Stamper explained to the organization about rezoning the area along Lincolnway East from Commercial to "B" Residential and he stated that the Redevelopment Commission would support such a move. Mr. Oxian stated that another alternative would be to rezone only the houses and leave the existing commercial properties zoned commercial. The organization decided to study the alternatives and to discuss the issue further at their next meeting_ The Commission instructed Mr. Stamper to talk with developer, Phillip Panzica about further design proposals if Mr. Panzica contacts the office. City Survey Summary Report Mrs. Price reported on the recommendations for historic districts as agreed upon in recent meetings of the district's committee: St. Adalberts, Notre Dame Ave., Rum Village, St. Casmir's, Indiana Street, River Park, Walnut Grove, Sunnymede, Altgeld/ Victoria Street. Mr. Stamper stated that copies of the recommendations have been distributed to the Redevelopment Commission, Community Development, Area Plan Commission, Mayor's office and the building commissioner. Historic Landmarks The first reading was held for landmark designation of 52407 Grape Road. The owner has given his consent for the designation. This will be included in the next meeting. Former County Schoolhouses Mr. Oxian stated that there are 8 schoolhousesand one church whose owners have been contacted regarding landmark by resolution. He stated that one owner has responded affirmatively. Mr. Oxian moved that designation of these buildings be approved pending response from the owners. Mr. Nimtz seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
