December 15, 1980 <br />Page 2 <br />5• Correspondence (cont,) <br />The three books that were sent for on a trial basis were not received, <br />and it was noted by Mr. Stamper that at this time it was too late toc <br />reorder them; a letter from Focal Point Architectural Artwork, a <br />manufacturer of plaster cornices was presented. <br />John Oxian presented a newsletter on recently decided court cases in <br />Historic Preservation, sent by Mr. Dennis. <br />6. Committee Reports <br />City Survey - John Stamper reported that: All lists have been <br />checked against the survey cards. Major corrections were made in <br />the styles and a revised styles legend was done. Cards are done and <br />ready to be copied, Final layout has yet to be completed, and also <br />the legend maps to be located at the beginning of each quadrant. <br />Budget and Finance <br />No Report <br />Historic Districts <br />No Report <br />Historic Landmarks and Standards <br />935 S. Ironwood tabled until the next meeting so that Joann Sporleder <br />and John Stamper may get a chance to go out and look at it, and <br />write a written recommendation. It was suggested by several members <br />at the Commission that policy governing homes rated 11 and their <br />eligibility for landmark status should be reviewed. It was agreed <br />that the Landmark Committee would review the survey cards for future <br />potential landmarks, <br />66401 Walnut Road - Mrs. Melba Lawson, the title owner, was present. <br />She expressed concern about the controls that might be placed on the <br />exterior of the home. Mrs. Lawson stated that she will contact her <br />attorney in order to determine the matter. The Commission explained <br />the various attributes of having a home declared a historic landmark, <br />and complemented Mrs. Lawson on the quality and uniqueness of her home. <br />The issue was tabled by consensus of the Commission until next month. <br />Legal <br />Gaylen Allsop, Attorney, gave a presentation concerning the status of <br />Ordinance Revisions in relation to the State Enabling Act. Mr. Allsop <br />stressed that injunctive relief rather than fines on preservation vio- <br />lations should be levied. In addition, it was suggested that Dual <br />Commission language should also be written into the Enabling Act, <br />It was stated by Mr. Allsop that a facade easement could be do- <br />nated to the city or county or state agency and/or administrated <br />by the Historic Preservation Commission.
