August 21, 1978 <br />Page 2 <br />878 5. Correspondence <br />Pat Osmon, C.D., sent a guide to neighborhood organizations. <br />A letter from John Oxian to Jim Seitz, Park Superintendent, <br />concerning the wanton destruction of tombstones, in the city <br />cemetery. <br />A letter from John Oxian to John DeLee, Building Commissioner, <br />concerning the granting of demolition permits without the <br />Commission being aware of it. <br />A letter from John DeLee to the Commission in response to John <br />Oxian's previous letter. <br />A letter to Paul Klein, Prp-sident of the County Council, from <br />John Oxian concerning the passage of landmark status for <br />schoolhouses, by resolution, in the County. <br />_ A letter from the Trust on the Conference and a special meeting <br />for Landmark and Historic District Commissions in large cities <br />on Thursday, October 12th, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. <br />878 6. Committee Reports <br />City Survey <br />The Survey Committee received the 3 -part contract from the State <br />Historic Preservation Office for the $12,000. Mrs. Price made a <br />motion that the City Survey Committee be charged with the duty of <br />completing and returning the forms. Mr. Oxian seconded. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Budget and Finance <br />Letter to Tom Catanzarite, Chairman of the County Council Budget <br />Administration Committee, requesting a hearing to discuss the <br />$600.00 discrepancy in our budget proposal,decided upon with the <br />County Commissioners. <br />Historic Districts <br />Mr. Oxian made a motion that we send to the City Council the re- <br />commendation that the West North Shore Drive be zoned as an <br />historic district. Mr. Kline seconded. All voted in favor. <br />Mr. Oxian then made a motion that the Commission accept the stand- <br />ards for the West North Shore Drive Historic District as written, <br />to be adopted upon the passage of an ordinance by the City Council <br />officially designating the West North Shore Drive area as an hist- <br />oric district. Mr. Kline seconded. All voted in favor. Mr. Was- <br />ielewski voted for Joann Sporleder by proxy. <br />Historic Landmarks <br />Mr. Oxian made a motion to declare 701 North Cottage Grove a single <br />site City Landmark. Mr. Kline seconded. All voted in favor. <br />
