Mrs. Price then
clarified the problem by saying the Commission has not yet organized
itself to where it could handle Certificates of Appropriateness. She
again said she would like to sit with Southhold to discuss this. There
was further discussion on this.. Mr.Nimtz then said there was federal
money involved, and he thought Southhold was under federal regulations
right now.
Ms. Sporleder then suggested that this whole thing be put off until
Southhold has done the renovation and then come back for landmark
status under whatever circumstances they wanted to discuss at that
time.
Mr. Lahey felt this would cause problems. If they are not successful
in getting landmark status, the zoning they wish to aquire would be in
jeopardy.
Mrs. Price then said she would like to see this motion tabled again
until the following meeting when the Commission could determine whether
it could legally offer standards. Ms. Sporleder seconded the motion
•
to table this matter once more.
Ms. Derbeck asked what effect tabling this matter would have on the
time table of Tippecanoe's application for re -zoning and was told that
it might kill the idea.
There was discussion regarding this matter of re -zoning.
Mr. Lahey remarked that Tippecanoe must have "C" zoning in order to
survive.
Mr. Wasielewski then said he was concerned that the Commission would
get involved in determining whether or not commercial zoning was going
to apply to Tippecanoe Place, which he preferred we not get involved in
as it was not an issue which this Commision could make a determination
on.
The motion was put to a vote and Mr. Wasielewski asked for a roll call.
Mr. Oxian voted not to table, Ms. Sporleder to table, Mr. Nimtz voted
not to table, Mrs. Price voted yes, and Mr. Wasielewski voted to table.
Mr. Eckerle abstained and said he was "completely torn on this issue,"
and that he needed more time to study the problem.
Mr. Eckerle then suggested that a special meeting be held in regard to
the immediacy of this problem. It was decided to have a special meeting
• on March 13, and Mr. Eckerle so moved with Mr. Oxian seconding this mo-
tion. It passed unanimously.
Mr. Oxian then brought up the building at 322 West Washington, the Mark-
