December 17,1979 <br />Page 4 <br />Public Relations and Community Education <br />No Report <br />Environmental Impact Statement <br />No Report <br />Presidential <br />Mr. Wasielewski reported that there would be elections of <br />officers next month. A nominating committee will be made <br />with Mr. Wasielewski as chairperson, Mr. Newburn, Mr. Nimtz. <br />Mr. Nimtz moved and Mrs. Sporleder seconded, the motion <br />carried. <br />Staff Report <br />Mr. Stamper reported on an article in the South Bend Tribune <br />by the Indiana Council on the Humanities requesting proposals <br />for $20,000 matching grants to be used for publications. Would <br />this be a possible source of funding for the guidebook on <br />architecture in St. Joseph County? <br />Mr. Oxian stated that Southhold's Project Committee is in the <br />early planning stages and that now would be the proper time <br />to approach them on the matter. Mr. Wasielewski asked what the <br />Commission's role in the book should be? Mr. Oxian said that <br />money and outside research work could be done by Southhold, <br />along with its publication, since they are a non-profit group. <br />Mr. Stamper stated that the staff should write the book since <br />they collected the materials over the last five years.lt was <br />agreed that Mr. Stamper and Mrs. Sporleder would meet with <br />Martha Choitz and her Projects Committee. <br />7. Old Business <br />Mr. Oxian stated that he sent a letter to the Sister's. and to <br />the Holladay Corporation concerning historic designation of <br />the Bendix Estate. The Holladay Corporation stated they didn't <br />want the designation since there have been changes in the facades <br />and additions have been added (appendix 6,7).
