December 17, 1979 <br />Page 2 <br />6^ <br />5. Correspondence <br />Mr' Wasielawskl reed into the record a letter dated December g, 1979, <br />to Mr WosYelewsk{, from Jordan E. Tannebaum, Chief: Eastern <br />Division Project Review, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. <br />The letter was in regard to the status of the Odd Fallows Building <br />(appendix 1\. The letter acknowledged the application by the Historic <br />Preservation Commission and recommended further procaedura} steps <br />the Commission should take. Mr. Waaielawski read into the record a <br />second latter dated December 13, 1979" concerning the proposed <br />historic landmark designation for the Powell House, from the Area <br />Plan Commission (appendix 2\. The Area Plan Commission gave its <br />approval, since there would be no proposed capital improvements that <br />would be in conflict with the structure. <br />Mr- Ox[an stated that there will be three ordinances pending for <br />January of next year: Morris Civic, North Pumping Station, and the' <br />Powell House. Three letters of favorable recommendation have been <br />received on these sites. Mr. WaslelmwskY also read into the record <br />two letters from the Area Plan Commission dated November 21,1979. <br />These letters also found no conflict in designating the North Pumping, <br />and the Morris Civic (appendix 3,4), Mrs. Sporlodarqueatloned if <br />approval was given for the whole block, or just the Morris Civic. <br />Mr, Was7e)awsk7 stated that approval was only given for the Morris <br />Civic. There was no further correspondence. <br />6. Committee Reports <br />City Survey <br />Mr. Stamper stated that there were two further quadrants to be <br />checked and revised. One quadrant located by Indiana University <br />and the river, and the other being Twyckunham-Ridgadale are yet <br />to be completed. Two-thirds of all survey cards have been copied <br />at Kwik Print. Three sets of all cards were made; one going to <br />the state, one to the Commission, and one to Crumllsh/Sporlador, <br />CrumlYsh will reimburse the Commission for his set. When all <br />corrections are complete, the last one-third of the cards will <br />be copied. Lists have been duplicated but corrections on some <br />are still to be made. Those corrected lists will then be duplicated. <br />Next, definition of quadrants, descriptions of proposed historic <br />districts and their maps will be done, All state negatives need <br />to be processed and labeled for each quadrant. <br />Budget and Finance <br />Mr. Wasielewsk7 read briefly the Commission's Community Development <br />Application. The application is designed to establish a program <br />in the Monroe/Sample and Edgewater Place areas. The purpose <br />being to develop plans and implement programs to preserve significant <br />architecture in the Monroe/Sample Edgewater Placa areas. It will <br />concentrate on the establishment of a historic district on <br />Edgewater Place, and the identification and planning of the move <br />of significant structures from the clearance area.
