September 17, 1979
Page 5
about it, one was the owner of 19251 Roosevelt. He said he would
go out there and talk to him and make suggestions about possible
landmark status. Mr. Oxian informed Mr. Stamper that the owner has
the set of standards and the consent form. Mr. Stamper informed the
Commission that virtually everyone present at the meeting regarding
this By-pass was against the Southern Route.
Mr. Stamper then said that it was agreed in caucus that Trudi Gil-
bert be paid, out of budget, for an extra month during October. Mr.
Nimtz moved that this expenditure of $750.00 on a consulting basis
for Mrs. Trudi Gilbert for October be authorized. Ms. Joann Spor-
leder seconded this motion and all voted in favor.
Mr. Stamper brought up the matter of the West Washington Street
area; he got a call from David DeWolf, who is a landscape archi-
tect from Niles, and he is doing a project on the office building
at 509 West Washington Street. Hunzinkers are proposing that the
grassy area between the building and the sidewalk, one of two al-
ternatives for that area: pave that entire area with concrete or
pave the areas with paving brick, plus a couple of planters. Mr.
Stamper showed a drawing of this proposed project. Mr. Stamper
made a site inspection and strongly recommended paving brick.
There was some discussion on this matter and the Commission con-
curred that paving brick and planters would be the best solution.
979 7. Old Business
0 There were no old business matters at this point.
979 8. New Business
No report.
979 9• Announcements and Miscellaneous Matters
Mr. F. Jay Nimtz wished to announce and have it incorporated into
the record that Ms. Joann Sporleder is now a duly qualified and
registered architect in the State of Indiana. There were congrat-
utlations from the Commission.
Mr. Oxian announced that he had received a brochure announcing
the lith Annual Indiana Conference of Historic Preservation on
October 12 and 13, in Indianapolis. He mentioned the various
sponsoring agencies.
979 10. Hearing of Visitors
No comments.
