Roll Call <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Ted''Wasielewski, Mr. John Ox'i'an, Mr. F. <br />Jay Nimtz, Mr. Gerald Kline, Ms Joanne Spor- <br />leder <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Mrs. Ruth Price, Mr. Timothy Eckerle, Mr. Al <br />Stivers, Mr. Odell Newburn <br />OTHERS P-RESENT: Ms. Jeanne Derbeck, Mr. Steven Compton, Mr. Jon' <br />Taylor, Mr. John Stamper, Mrs. Gertrud Gilbert <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski asked, with the Commission's approval, for sus- <br />pension of the agenda in order to allow Mr.Steven Compton, Assis- <br />tant Director for Planning, Community Development Program, to give <br />a presentation regarding lighting on the West Washington Street <br />District. There were no objections. <br />Mr. Compton then read a memo he had sent to John Stamper regarding <br />the City's use of some 197$' C.D. program monies for lighting on <br />West Washington Street which would have to be under contract be- <br />fore December 31, 1979. He outlined the procedures necessary to <br />take advantage of these monies and showed the type of lighting that <br />would be used,- nineteen individual street lamps, each having a <br />350 watt high pressure sodium vapor light, located from William <br />Street on the east to Chapin Street on the west. Twelve old lights <br />and posts will be removed to provide,a unified appearance and'main- <br />tain the character of the neighborhood. The new lamp fixtures will <br />be of a colonial or traditionaire design, black in color, and placed <br />atop fourteen foot hexongonal precast concrete posts. Mr. Compton <br />said that his agency in consultation with the State Historic Pre- <br />servation Officer has the responsibility of determining whether an <br />undertaking will have an effect upon National Register or eligible <br />properties. He ;then summarized that 'his 'agency ,is asking the Com- <br />mission to concur with the 'decision of his agency that this project <br />
