Was|e(ewoki reported that Tim Eckarle informed him that the City <br />is doing an extensive survey on the Monroe -Sample area. James Chis <br />has been hired as a consultant and a presentation will be made at /n <br />executive session July 5th, at 7;30 p.m. in the Child's office. At <br />that time, Childs will outline what the City's plans are for housing <br />stock that is being threatened. Mr. F. Jay NYmtz clarified this <br />matter. He said the Redevelopment Commission felt the Historic Pre- <br />servation Commission should be appraised of the situation. <br />Old Business <br />Mrs, Price spoke about securing the certification of the ordinance <br />of the Commission, and the Commission needs .o schedule the acceptance <br />of this study. Mr. WaalalawskY reported that the Commission duaa not <br />yet have Gaylen Allsop/s report on this matter. Mr. Wasielawskl said <br />he would follow up on this matter. <br />Staff Report <br />Mr. Stamper reported that CETA requested a Time Card for the next <br />City CETA person. He made up such a card for himself and City CETA. <br />The Commission was monitored recently by City CETA and the need arose <br />for relating what the City CETA person actually did. <br />Mr. Stamper said he had talked with Mrs. Gordon Swan, of State Road <br />23, who bought the old Martens house - an |tallanate structure with <br />asbestos siding. They are interested in having it declared a county <br />landmark and they will take off the asbestos siding. Mr. Stamper said <br />the Commission might then consider it a landmark, <br />Marty Kleva, who owns aoounty landmark on Grape Road, complained that <br />he isn't getting any benefits by having his housma landmark. He cites <br />the need fora tax break, or low interest loans. He sa-id it coats him <br />more money to keep it historic. He said he is going to come in and re- <br />quest his house be taken off the landmark status. There was some dis- <br />cussion on the possibility of applying for a facade easement to ' <br />this structure. Mrs. Price reiterated that the property owner gives <br />up certain rights and he also agrees to maintain a certain quality, <br />once the house is declared a landmark.
