Mr. Stamper was advised to confer with Crumlish/
Sporleder regarding the numbering system. Mr. Crumlish was thanked
for coming.
579 3• Approval of Minutes
Mrs. Price moved that the April minutes be approved as corrected.
John Oxian seconded. Motion passed.
579 4. Treasurer's Report
Mrs. Price stated she had reviewed the current bills, found them to be
in order and moved the Treasurer's Report be accepted as submitted.
Tim Eckerle seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Mrs. Price then moved that the Commission reflect the $2,000.00 manda-
tory budget cut under Line Item 111. Ms. Sporleder seconded. All
voted in favor.
Mrs. Price informed the Commission that she and John Stamper had at-
tended a New Resources for Urban Design and Histori-c Preservation
conference in Evansville, May 16-18. She said there had not been time
to request Commission approval for attendance, but that it had been a
most worthwhile and excellent conference. She moved that Stamper's
$35.00 Registration fee and three nights at $35.00 total be author-
ized for reimbursement by the Commission. Ms. Sporleder seconded and
the motion passed unanimously.
The order of the agenda was again altered to allow Tim Eckerle to be
present while Mr. Oxian discussed 701 East Pennsylvania Avenue. He
said the owner had not replied to his letter and had not indicated one
way or another as to whether he wanted his property declared a his-
toric landmark. Mr. Eckerle suggested that perhaps a certified letter
would bring results after the Commission declares the building a land-
mark. Substandard has found code violations which have since been
rectified. It is a superior structure. Mr. Oxian moved that 701 E.
Pennsylvania be declared a historic landmark under "B" standards. Ms.
Joann Sporleder seconded. All voted in favor. Mr. Oxian said that he
would send a certified letter to the owners of the Commision's recom-
mendation to the City Council what action he may take at the same time.
Mr. Oxian then discussed 68437 Pine Road and again said he had not re-
ceived any answer from the owner, Mrs. Collins. Mr. Stamper was ad-
vised to go to the owner and try once more to get agreement on having
the property declared a historic landmark. Mr. Oxian moved that 68437
Pine Road be declared a historic landmark by the County Council. Mr.
Eckerle seconded the motion. An amendment was proposed by Joann Spor-
leder to this motion that a third attempt to contact the owner be un-
dertaken before the ordinance is submitted to County Council. There
was further discussion on this matter. It was then seconded and Ms.
It Sporleder and Mrs. Price voted for the amendment. Mr. Wasielewski,
Mr. Oxian, Mr. Eckerle, and Mr. Kline voted against the amendment.
There was heated debate regarding this matter. Mr. Oxian said that
