January 31, 1977 <br />Page 6 <br />Mr. Smith then mentioned that election of officers were to be — <br />made. He appointed Mr. F. Jay Nimtz as the Chairman of the Nom- <br />inating Committee and.suggested that Mr. Nimtz turn in a list of <br />candidates for the various offices. Mr. Nimtz accepted this res- <br />ponsibility. <br />8. New Business <br />Ms. Joann Sporleder spoke about a bill being introduced in the <br />State Legislature which concerns itself with enabling legislation <br />of historic preservation commissions throughout the state. It was <br />introduced under the Department of Natural Resources and she in- <br />formed the Commission that it was not a good bill and would put — <br />preservation commissions in a precarious position. There was dis- <br />cussion on just what effects passage of such a bill could have. <br />And it was suggested that the Commission go on record as being <br />supportive of enabling legislation. Mr. Smith said he was going <br />to Indianapolis the following day and would look into this. It was <br />further suggested, that Ms. Kopczynski make a call regarding this <br />legislation. Mr. Nimtz suggested that perhaps someone•shoiild talk <br />to Dick Bodine about it. <br />9. Hearing of Visitors <br />There were no comments <br />10. Announcements and. Miscellaneous Matters <br />There were no announcements <br />11. Adjournment <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski made a motion to stand adjourned. Mr. Rothermel <br />seconded this motion and it passed unanimously. The January meeting <br />was adjourned at 8:35 P.m. <br />SUBMITTED BY: Russell W.
