Ms. Christianson has decided not to
take this position and Ms.Kopczynski said she had undertaken corres=
pondence with other people on the list who might possibly be inter-
ested in this reponsibli.ty.
Ms. Kopczynski then remarked that she had been in correspondence
with Sister John Francis who is engaged in doing a history of the
City of Lowell on the east side of town.
Next, a letter, drafted by Ms. Kopezynski and signed by Vice- -
president Oxian to the Inter -State Commerce Commission in Washing-
ton, was read to the Commission. It set forth the Commission's
concern with the.possible curtailment of passenger service of the
Chicago - South Shore and South Bend Railroad. No reply,.has, as
yet, been received regarding this matter.
A short note, sent to Mr. John Pauszek, regarding his concern
about the status of Central High School was mentioned. It express-
ed the Commission's continuing interest in this building.
6. Committee Reports
City Survey
Mr. Ted Wasielewski informed the Commission that he had "touched
base" with Mr. Brian Crumlish regarding this venture. He re-
ported that the firm has alm V—completed two small sections:
St. Joseph Street and the North Shore triangle. He said that
there were probably two or three superior homes on the St. Joseph
Street section. Ms. Kopczynski said that one of Notre Dame's
American Studies interns is doing historical research on this
area. Ms. Wasielewski said that there were perhaps six to ;en
superior homes inventoried in the North Shore triangle section.
He reported.that the Crumlish/Sporleder firm had arrived at a
mapping system, using Area Plan maps which would be in an 8 x 14
inch format. In addition, there is a symbol system which will be
used in this survey. He said the firm is ahead of schedule and
everything would be ready to go in May.
Ms. Kopczynski distributed copies of disbursements of Community
Development funds to date, for the City Survey, and showing the
balances remaining. This report was duly noted by the Commission.
Budget and Finance
Mr. Oxian reported that there might possibly be a report from
this committee at the March caucus.
Historic Districts
There was no report from this committee.
