May ll.. 1976
Page 2
Ruth Price. -Ms. Price brought the Commission up-to-date on
what was happening in historic preservation throughout the
state. She remarked that federal funding was suspended in the
State of Indiana. She said that several grants-in-aid would --
not be allowed. She mentioned that the state is afraid of im-
pact statements and that the cause of historic preservation muse
have state-wide support, perhaps through a state-wide lobby.
Mr. Smith then thanked Ms. Price for acquainting the Commission
with these facts.
Mr. Rinderle next introduced, Jane Hoadley who is the Public
Relations Director of McDonald's Restaurants.
She spoke about the possibility of distribution of the Auto
Tour Guide through the McDonald's Restaurants. She informed
the Commission that it would be advertised in the store bulletins,
posters and newspapers, as well as on radio spots. The maps would
be distributed by request only over the counter. She said that
she had not as yet talked to the Operations Manager as to the cost.
Mr. Nimtz asked what would be McDonald's attitude about other com-
mercial enterprises distributing these maps. Ms. Hoadley said there
would be no problem. It was asked whether McDonald's would cover
part of the production costs added to the cost of printing an extra
15,000 maps. Mr. Nimtz suggested that perhaps some guidance in -
this area could come from the County Attorney's office. Ms. Da-
visson made a motion that Al Stivers continue the responsibility
of talking with the County Attorney's office as to the legality
of the Commission's letting McDonald distribute the maps. He is
also to negotiate with McDonald's as to the production costs,
subject to approval by the Commission. Mr. Nimtz seconded this
motion and it passed unanimously. Ms. Hoadley said distribution
of the maps would be during the last week in June. Mr. Nimtz made
a motion that the Commission will look with favor on any other
commercial enterprises that desire the same type of arrangement --
as is made with McDonald's if such arrangement is made. Ms. Spor-
leder seconded this motion and it passed unanimously.
Mr.. Nimtz then said he had discussed with Brian Crumlish the mat-
ter of the copyright on the map and Mr. Crumlish stated that it -
was at the suggestion of the printer and that it was not for per-
sonal gain or aggrandizement. It is up to the Commission to use
this map and make whatever arrangement it wishes for its use.
4. Treasurer's Report
Ms. Davisson distributed the new treasurer's report showing
the balances remaining in the various line items. She then
submittedfor approval for payment the following bills:
Duplicating charges for April $1.60
Postage charges for April 7.86
Business Systems 6.24
Schillings 13.03
Gertrud Gilbert 10.35
Mr. Oxian made a motion that the report be accepted and the
foregoing bills be approved for payment. Mr. Stivers seconded.
this motion and it passed unanimously.
