June 21, 1976 <br />Page 5 <br />Sporleder to give the Commission some thoughts of how <br />a City Survey could be conducted. Mr. Smith then mentioned <br />that the house at 317 West Washington is for sale at a price <br />— of $19,700 and stated that it was a very reasonable price <br />for this property. <br />Staff Report <br />Ms. Rita Kopezynski reported that there was still $125.00 at <br />the Notre Dame bookstore. She suggested the Commission pur- <br />chase "The History of Notre Dame" by Dr. Thomas Schlereth. <br />She also asked permission to purchase a reprint of the 1875 <br />Atlas and Howard's 2 -volume History of St. Joseph County at <br />the book barn for $65.00. Mr. Stivers made a motion that <br />the Commission buy these books. Ms. Sporleder seconded this <br />motion and it passed unanimously. <br />Ms. Kopezynski then discussed the status of the County <br />Survey and the hiring of two research assistants for July <br />and August. Ms. Davisson talked about the hiring of a <br />Research Planner. Mr. Oxian stated that Ms. Kopezynski <br />would continue to be in charge of the Commission office: <br />It was mentioned that the position of the part-time Con- <br />sultant was terminated. Ms. Kopezynski was advised to <br />contact Marsha Mullin about the research assistant position. <br />Mr. Smith stated that the $5,00 forthcoming should be spent <br />in completing the County Survey. Mr. Oxian made a motion, <br />that the Commission hire two short -terse research assistants <br />at a salary of $500.00 each per month for July and August. <br />Mr. Stivers seconded this motion. It passed unanimously. <br />During the ensuing discussion it was brought out that these <br />persons would be hired on a contractural basis and not liable <br />to fringe benefits. It was also stated that the officers of <br />the Commission will make the final decision, after screening <br />process by Ms. Kopezynski. <br />Mr. Oxian made a motion that a person be hired as an historic <br />preservation planner, starting September 1 to December 31, in <br />accordance with a prepared job description. Ms. Davisson <br />seconded this motion and it passed unanimously. Mr. Rothermel <br />was authorized to draw up a suitable job description for this <br />position. <br />7; Old Business <br />Plaques <br />It was stated that an order for twenty plaques had been <br />sent to and acknowledged by the Lake Shore Markers Company. <br />Auto Tour Map <br />Mr. Stivers reported that McDonald's had contracted Rink <br />
