July 13, 1976
Page 5
Presidential Report
In the absence of President Jack Smith, there was no report in
this area.
Staff Report
Ms. Rita Kopezynski discussed the applications she had received
for the position of Research Assistant and the preliminary in—
terviewing she had done of the applicants. There were four ap-
plicants in addition to Ms. Marsha Mullin who had had the position
during the summer months of last year. Ms. Henni Akkerman, Mr.—
Duane De Paepe, Ms. Anne Marian Jones, and Ms. Belle Lawson Pen—
dleton had submitted resumes and had been interviewed by Ms. Kop-
czynski. The Commission reviewed the qualifications of all ap-
plicants and their resumes were discussed. Ms. Davisson then —
moved that the Commission accept the recommendations of Ms. Kop-
czynski and hire Marsha Ann Mullin and Belle Lawson Pendleton
as the temporary Research Assistants. Ms. Sporleder seconded—
this motion and it passed unanimously: Ms. Kopezynski was in-
structed to draw up a cursory contract for these applicants.
Ms. Davisson then suggested that perhaps, in the interim, Ms..
Kopezynski's title could be "Chief Researcher" or "Acting
Historic Preservation Planner. `_Lt was further suggested that
City CETA be contacted in this matter.
Ms. Sporleder reported that Mr. Rothermel had drafted a job
description for a Historic Preservation Planner. It was stated
that specific corrections had been made by a committee of Com-
mission members and the changes referred back to Mr. Rothermel.
It would then be typed and be ready by the next meeting.
Ms. Sporleder advised that Mr. Oxian introduce, at the next
meeting, the transference of Ms. Kopczynski from the position
of research assistant to interim historic preservation planner
in September, and the City CETA office should be notified of
this change.
7. Old Business
There was no old business to be acted upon.
8. New Business
Ms. Kopezynski reported that a public hearing of the Joint
Legislative Committee on Housing and Zoning was scheduled
for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, in the County -City
Building. It was recomended that the Commission present a
statement of its goals at this meeting. Ms. Kopczynski said
she would check into the advisability of submitting a statement.
