July 13, 1976 <br />Page 2 <br />Mr. -F. Jay Nimtz made a mot16n-that the Treasurer's Report be accepted <br />as submitted and the bills approved for payment. Ms., Sporleder sec- <br />onded this motion and it passed unanimously. <br />5. Correspondence <br />Ms. Kopezynski.mentioned.that she had been in contact with Carolyn <br />Haman of the LaxDivision - Landmarks and Preservation of the National <br />Trust. Ms. Hax`had wanted information about this Commission and <br />then called from Washington to say that this Commission is one of the <br />more major commissions in the country and expressed a request for ad- <br />ditional information. <br />Ms. Kopczynski then distriiiuted copies of a public relations pamphlet <br />from the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission. This pamph- <br />let details the work of the commission and lists their landmarks. <br />They were duly noted by Commission members. <br />Next, Ms. Kopezynski mentioned a letter she had.written to Mr. Allan <br />D. White of Columbia City regarding their contemplated survey of <br />Whitley County. The letter expressed encouragement in this endeavor <br />and an Auto Tour Map was enclosed for Dir. White's perusal. <br />A letter was then read which had been drafted by Mr. John Oxian to <br />the School Board regarding the possible declaration of the Colfax <br />School as an historical landmark. Mr. Dake read this letter at the <br />last school board meeting but no action was taken in this matter. <br />Mr. Oxian mentioned.that no bids were received for the Ardmore, <br />Lydick, and Colfax school buildings, but that they would be sold <br />separately. <br />Ms. Kopezynski mentioned that the office had received the schedule <br />of events for the Annual National Trust meeting in October. It was <br />discussed that this was a worthwhile meeting to attend. Ms. Kop- <br />czynski had submitted the President's and Vice -President's names as <br />as possible participants. <br />6. Committee Reports <br />Budget and Finance <br />Mr. Oxian had discussed the City Budget with Peter Mullin and <br />he was sure the Commission would get some funds. <br />Historic Districts <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski discussed the letter to the City Engineer - <br />which he had circulated at the last meeting regarding the pro- <br />posed widening of Chapin Street. He would like Commission mem- <br />bers to make changes, return the draft to him and then a final <br />copy would be sent out over Jack Smith's signature. <br />
