I
April 14+ 1975
Page 4
CETA Position
Ms. Schlereth informed the Commission that interviews had been
set up with the remaining candidates that CETA had proposed.
Mr. Oxian had not been able to attend but had sent his brother
to sit in on the interview and get information for him. Mr.
Smith had failed to make the meeting. Ms. Schlereth outlined
the qualifications of the three candidates and distributed
their respective resumes. Ms. Schlereth recommended that the
Commission request that CETA hire Mrs. Gertrud Gilbert. Mr.
Oxian expressed his opinions on the candidate whom he had inter-
viewed and on the other candidates based upon his brother's
evaluation at the interviews and reading their resumes, and
similarly recommended that the Commission choose Mrs. Gilbert.
Ms. Davisson moved that the Commission ask CETA to hire Mrs. -
Gertrud Gilbert to serve as a secretary - research assistant to
the HP Commission. Mr. Rothermel seconded the motion and it
passed unanimously.
Other items under Old Business were tabled until the next meeting.
7. New Business
Ms. Sporleder suggested that since the Commission still has the
services of Ms. Ryan as the Notre Dame Intern for another three
weeks, that she be set to work researching the Arthur Frederickson
house at 233 N. Lafayette.
8. Committee Reports
Tabled until the next meeting.
9. Hearing of Visitors
Mr. John Palmer stated that he would like to be considered by the
Commission to be hired-to undertake their cataloging project. He
also stated that he has started the Michiana Reference Service and
that the Commission might wish to employ him for specific research
projects.
Ms. Schlereth next introduced Ms. Lois E. McMahon. Ms. Schlereth
stated that she would be leaving the Commission upon the expiration
of her contract on June 30th to return to work on her doctorate, and
that the Commission might be interested in contracting with Ms.
McMahon for the remaining six months of 1975. Ms. Schlereth passed
around a copy of Ms. McMahon's resume (attached). Mr. Rothermel
suggested that Ms. Schlereth send out copies of Ms. McMahon's resume
along with the minutes so that Commission members could study it.
10. Adjournment
Mr. Rothermel moved that the meeting be adjourned. Ms. Davisson -
seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned.
at 9:20 p.m.
