November 12, 1974 <br />Page 5 <br />A letter had also been sent.to the owners of the Kresge <br />Building.- Mr. Oxian read both letters. <br />Mr. Oxian also reported that he discovered a need to do <br />some research on the Olive Street Fire Station. <br />9. -New-Business <br />a.) Mr. Smith reported -that he attended the last meeting of <br />the BiCentennial Committee. He stated that nothing had <br />transpired of any significance. <br />b.) Mr. Oxian discussed the Fanny Mae Clock in downtown South <br />Bend. Mr. Oxian made a motion that a letter:be sent to the <br />owners of the building soliciting their support in the pos- <br />sible designation of the clock as an historic landmark. Mr. <br />Stivers seconded the motion and it passed. <br />c.) Mr. Oxian reported on the status of the buildings.�that had <br />been on the,list he received from the Redevelopment Commission <br />that were not up to standards. A discussion. ensued, and it <br />..was decided that the executive secretary should check with <br />Mr. Harrison Miller to see which build.ings,are in danger of <br />of being torn down. <br />Mr. Oxian made a motion that a letter be sent to the Odd <br />Fellows stating the Commissions interest in their renewal <br />efforts and offering any,advice that the Commission might <br />'be,,able to give. The letter would state the possiblity of <br />the building being declared an historic landmark at some <br />future date if the renovations.are done properly. <br />d.) Ms. Studer reported that the.Board of Zoning had received <br />a bill for the repair of the tape recorder which malfunctioned <br />at:the last.Commission meeting. :She suggested that the Com <br />mission might wish to assume part of this bill. Mr. Nimtz <br />moved that the Commission offer to pay not more that half <br />of..the:bill...•Mr. Oxian seconded the motion.and it passed. <br />10.
