Minutes, March 11, 1974 <br />-2- <br />7. Bylaws Report <br />Mr. Nimtz and Mr. Oxian presented a rough draft of a set of,bylaws for <br />the Commission and asked.for suggestions for refinement, addition or correc- <br />tion. These were made by various members during.the discussion. Each member <br />is to further study the draft and come to the April meeting with further <br />suggestions., The bylaws committee will rewrite the draft incorporating the <br />suggestions made during the discussion for consideration at.the April meeting. <br />8. Report of the Budqet and Finance Committee <br />The chairman with the support of the members, asked the committee to, <br />contact the Common Council of South Bend and the County Council to seek funds <br />for 1974 operation. <br />The committee will meet with Mr. Johnson, Executive Director of the Area <br />Plan Commission,for assistance in preparation of a budget. <br />9. Historic Landmarks Committee Report <br />The committee recommends the following landmarks for consideration: <br />a. The former South Shore Station Building which was -originally the Masonic <br />Lodge Building <br />b. The Penn Central Passenger Station <br />Mr. Oxian moved that since the South Shore Station is condemned, that a <br />member of the HPC appear before the Board of Works and the.Common Council of <br />South Bend to ask for a stay of demolition until the HPC.has at least two (2) <br />months to investigate the building for architectural and historic significance. <br />Motion seconded by Mrs. Davisson and the motion carried by a unanimous vote. <br />Mr. Oxian moved that a member of the HPC appear before the Board of Works <br />and the Common Council of South Bend to require that security for the Penn <br />Central Station Building be provided and that the HPC 'has at least two months <br />to investigate the building'for architectural and historic significance. <br />Motion seconded by Mr. Paszek. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. <br />Chairman Smith appointed Mr. Oxian to appear before the Board of Works <br />and the Common Council to plead the intent of the two motions. <br />10. Historic Districts Committee Report <br />This report was deferred to the April meeting. <br />11. Southhold Restorations, Inc., Luncheon <br />Members present at the luncheon held at <br />t the Indiana Club on March 13 <br />reported on the remarks and the slides presented by J. Reid Williamson, Executive <br />Director, Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana on the Savannah, Georgia <br />project. This was a very fine presentation. We are fortunate to have <br />Mr. Williamson come'to Indiana from the directorship of the Savannah project to <br />direct Indiana's program. The commission expressed its appreciation to the <br />Southhold Restorations, Inc., for the program. <br />12. Tippecanoe Place <br />Discussion arose concerning the future of Tippecanoe Place. Title to the <br />property has now been returned to heirs -- the E. M. Morris family. Chairman <br />V�, <br />
