He gave much assistance <br />in preparing the interim budget for 1974. <br />Mr. Sullivan was consulted concerning a grant to conduct an educa- <br />tional program for residents of historic districts -- about providing <br />materials for libraries, schools, and the HPC office, and about tours <br />to inform the Commission of work done elsewhere. <br />Mr. Gilbertson was consulted about the state survey of historic <br />districts and landmarks. Staff has been hired to conduct the survey. <br />The state is divided into seven regions. Southhold Restorations, Inc. <br />has been asked to help with the survey of our nine county region in <br />Northern Indiana. <br />8. New Business <br />a. Mrs. Price reported that Southhold Restorations, Inc. has received <br />funding for three panel discussions to be held during Historic'Preserva- <br />tions Week, May 6 -10, to train volunteers to do the survey of the nine <br />county region of Northern Indiana. Members of the HPC will be invited <br />to attend. <br />b. Mr. Michael Wiedle, attorney for the National Trust, who will be <br />in this area May 17 or May 20 has offered to assist the bylaws committee <br />to interpret the ordinance, prepare the bylaws, and offer suggestions <br />for amending the ordinance. <br />C. Discussion ensued about the role of the HPC in plans for the 1976 <br />United States Bicentennial. The HPC might prepare a brochure for <br />distribution to the public,listing and giving information about historic <br />landmarks and districts. <br />Mrs. Davisson moved that Mrs. Gwen Stiver, chairman of the <br />Bicentennial program, be invited to attend the next meeting of the HPC. <br />Seconded by Mr. Nimtz. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Smith instructed the secretary to write a letter to Mrs. Stiver <br />in this regard. <br />d. Discussion took place concerning the need for the HPC to be represented <br />at a meeting in Washington, D.C., having to do with building codes, et cetera <br />related to historic district planning and control. Funds are needed. <br />e. Since the HPC is operating without adopted bylaws, it was generally <br />agreed by all to conduct our meetings under Roberts Rules of Order. <br />9.
