JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA <br />Minutes <br />Monday, 7 :45 p.m. Conference Room <br />April 8, 1974 Area Plan Commission <br />Room 1219, County -City Building <br />1. Call to Order <br />Chairman Smith called the Commission to order at 7 :45 p;m. <br />2. Roll Call <br />Members Present: Mrs. William Davisson, Mr. John Smith, Mr. F. Jay Nimtz, <br />Mr. John Oxian, Mrs. Donald Sporleder, <br />Mr. Russell Rothermel <br />Members Absent: Mr. Ward Baker, Mr, A. E. Paszek, Mrs. George Woolridge <br />Others Present: Mrs. William Price, Mr. Richard,Johnson, Mrs. Judy Studer, <br />Mrs. Nancy Doyle, Mr. Bruce Kohn. <br />3. Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the March 11 meeting were approved as printed, <br />4. Treasurer's Report <br />No expenditures were incurred nor additional funds received. <br />5. Correspondence <br />A letter from Mr. Judd Leighton expressing his and Mrs. Leighton's apprecia- <br />tion for HPC's interest in Tippecanoe Place. <br />6. Reports of Standinq Committees <br />a. Budqet and Finance Committee <br />Mrs. Davisson and Mr. Smith reported on the committee's efforts and <br />the assistance received from J. Reid Williamson, Executive Director of <br />the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, to prepare a budget for 1974 <br />operation of the Commission. Mr. Smith read a letter to be sent to the <br />county commissioners seeking revenue sharing funds. A copy of the letter <br />is appended to these minutes and outlines the budget being proposed." <br />Mr. Nimtz moved that the letter and the proposed budget request of $9,061 <br />be approved and sent to the county commissioners and that the budget and <br />finance committee be authorized to proceed to negotiate for the funds. <br />Mrs. Sporleder seconded the motion. The motion carried. Mr. Oxian abstained. <br />The letter appended outlines the needs of the Commission for funds <br />this year. <br />b. Historic Landmarks Committee <br />Mr. Oxian did appear before the Board of Public Safety to seek time <br />for the Commission to prepare a report on the architectural and historical <br />significance of the old South Shore station building. The Board has granted <br />sixty (60) days as of March 19. <br />No action had been taken by the committee in regard to the Penn-Central <br />station. Mrs. Sporleder produced a thesis prepared by a University of <br />Notre Dame graduate student on the Penn - Central station. Parts of this <br />
