South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - October 20, 1995
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
j. continued...
panels. Green tinted glass with aged copper
colored window frames will be used for all
window treatments. The facility will be used
to house the South Bend Division of the U.S.
Federal Bankruptcy Court and the U.S.
Marshal's offices. The total cost of the
building is estimated at $4.4 million.
This project will not create any new jobs.
However, the tenant, the U.S. Federal
Bankruptcy Court, employs 26 full-time
positions. Additionally, a series of
construction and construction related jobs will
be created to complete the project.
A review of the tax abatements previously
granted, finds that the petitioner, Western
Avenue Partners, LLC, has not been granted
any previous tax abatement consideration.
However, some of the principals of Western
Avenue Partners have been involved in other
projects which have received tax abatement.
The previous projects are in compliance with
the annual reporting requirements.
The Building Commissioner has reviewed the
petition and has found the property to be
properly zoned for the proposed use.
A review of the tax abatement area maps finds
that the property is located in an area
presently designated as a Tax Abatement
Impact Area by the South Bend Common
Council.
-18-
