Ground water is at approximately 25
feet there, so ground water was not tested.
They also took soil borings on the west side of
the former Avanti building where there had
been some underground storage tanks and
some drum storage areas, and some in the
center of the site.
Mr. Stokes noted that there were no
contaminates and no volatile organic
constituents found as a result of testing the soil
samples. ATEC also did not observe any
staining of soil on the property, nor any
suspicious odors. The soils on the property
should not require any special disposal if the
property were developed.
Mr. Stokes noted that this location is currently
listed as a Cerclis facility by IDEM. ATEC is
currently working with the state to get the site
reclassified as a low priority site since the
storage drums, which caused the site to be
added to the Cerclis list, have been removed.
Mrs. Kolata noted that we asked ATEC to
look at those issues that would affect a
potential purchaser.
