South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Special Meeting - May 26, 1995
6. NEW BUSINESS
b. continued...
(landscaping and lighting) along the front
of the development site. The
Commission is also being requested to
landscape the remainder of the larger 16
acre parcel at a cost not to exceed
$10,000. This landscaping will be
maintained by the Company. Staff recommends
acceptance of the proposal as submitted.
Mr. Bancroft, representing Midwest
Land Company, stated that his client
chose South Bend for this
relocation/expansion because of a
number of factors: its Toll Road access,
its quality of life, it's relatively low cost
of living, and the cooperative people.
He commended the staff, Project Future,
Indiana Michigan Power, the St. Joseph
County Airport Authority and the State
of Indiana for their assistance in working
out the details necessary to make this
project happen.
Mr. Faccenda noted that the goal of
Blackthorn Development Area is to bring
business in from outside the community,
not just move South Bend businesses to
-4-
