Staff report on disposition of property in
the Sample -Ewing Development Area.
Mrs. Kolata noted that the staff has received
two proposals for the site of the former
Transwestem Building. She read the staff
report on the proposal from Design
Packaging.
On January 28, 1994 the Redevelopment
Commission sent a purchase offer in the
amount of $275,000 for the property at 600
North Niles Avenue that is owned by Design
Packaging, Inc. This property includes a
22,641 s.f. building on a site of 65,340 s.f..
Over the last year the staff has had
numerous discussions with Mr. Jack Smith,
the owner of Design Packaging, concerning
the purchase offer and future location for
Design Packaging.
On March 17, 1995 Design Packaging, Inc.
submitted an offer to purchase Disposition
Parcel Number One in the Studebaker
Corridor at a purchase price of $55,000.
Disposition Parcel Number One contains
131,678 s.f. (approximately 3 acres) and had
a minimum offering price of $85,563.
According to the proposal, Design
Packaging would construct a 42,000 s.f.
building to house the office, production and
warehouse of Design Packaging, Inc.
Additionally, the site plan would allow for a
second building of approximately 20,000 s.f.
to be built at a later date on the southern
part of the site.
