South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - April 7, 1995
out of the East Bank. The Studebaker
Museum proposal has major conditions
attached to it. It isn't even approved by the
Board of the Studebaker Drivers' Club and
wouldn't be until July.
Mrs. Kolata noted that the Design packaging
proposal still has a few details to work out,
but asked the Commission to direct the staff
to work out those details with Design
Packaging and bring the final proposal to the
Commission on April 21 for final approval.
Mr. Faccenda stated that this community
cannot afford to have the for -profit sector
and the not - for -profit sector compete with
each other. We need both. He suggested
that the Drivers' Club and Redevelopment
staff continue to look at options that would
make the school corporation's administration
building a viable site for the Studebaker
Museum.
He noted that Design Packaging's proposal
is one of the first industrial uses proposed
for reclaimed land in the Studebaker
Corridor. That is what the Commission has
claimed it intends for this land.
Mr. Hunt asked that the Studebaker Drivers'
Club not take any action by the Commission
selecting Design Packaging's proposal as a
rebuff. We want to continue to work with
them to find a good location for the
museum.
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
C. continued...
IL -15-
