NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />c. continued... <br />The residence in question sits as the edge of <br />the Parkview project and, if allowed to <br />remain, would serve as an example to <br />adolescents that you can accomplish almost <br />anything if you are motivated and creative as <br />the Polack family are. <br />I personally salute the Polacks for grasping <br />and preserving the last truly stately portion of <br />a once thriving neighborhood that my 94 year <br />old grandmother and I still fondly recall. <br />Thank you. <br />JOYCE BOALER: 1606 Hillsdale Road. I, <br />too, come today without the invitation or <br />request of the Polacks —in fact they were <br />praying that I wouldn't come. Because when <br />I come to speak at City meetings in favor of <br />something, it's always voted down. It's <br />inevitable. So I feel rather like a dark cloud <br />hovering in this room. And I have not <br />written anything down, today, to say, which <br />is very unusual for me. That's the way I like <br />to do things. However, I could not sit there <br />and think of their beautiful home being <br />destroyed without speaking out. This is a <br />travesty. This is a sin to even consider <br />destroying this home. And I listened to the <br />gentleman's presentation about how you <br />would bring businesses and residences into <br />that area if the IVY Tech did not appear. <br />Well, there you have a ready -made business <br />and residence. He spoke about the <br />infrastructure. The sidewalk in front of this <br />home is absolutely excellent —it's in beautiful <br />condition. Whereas, the person who owns <br />-29- <br />
