r South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Rescheduled Regular Meeting - January 4, 1994 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />Mr. Hunt asked permission to add item 6.k. to <br />the agenda. There was no objection and the <br />item was added. <br />a. Public Hearing on Resolution No. 1205 <br />amending the Development Plan for the <br />South Bend Central Development Area. <br />Mr. Hunt noted that Resolution <br />No. 1205 amends the plan for the <br />SBCDA by adding one parcel to the <br />acquisition list for the South Bend <br />Central Development Area. That parcel <br />is the property owned by Design <br />Packaging on Niles Avenue. The staff <br />recommends acquiring this property for <br />two reasons: 1) The owner is interested <br />in expanding, but does not have the <br />room at his present location. Although <br />he owns property in Peru, Indiana, our <br />purchase of his property will allow him <br />to purchase land on Western Avenue and <br />remain in the community. 2) The <br />present land use is incompatible with the <br />long term redevelopment of the area. <br />The area is moving from light industrial <br />to mixed use with residential, office, <br />small retail and commercial uses. <br />Mr. Hunt asked to enter the following <br />items into the record: 1) An original of <br />the "Notice of Hearing of the South <br />Bend Central Development Area <br />Development Plan; 2) An affidavit of <br />-3- <br />
