South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - May 21, 1993
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. continued...
MS. BLA2EK: I'm Joann Blazer and I'm a
city resident, living at 222 S. Greenlawn.
I've come as a volunteer; I'm just from the
community. I'd life to give my support to
the revitalization. I'm aware of the area and
I feel like the help of the City in revitalizing
this area will be a benefit to the area. There
are a lot of vacant lots, a lot of deterioration
that I feel that these programs they are
thinking about being developed will be a great
help for the area. Thank you.
MR. BAELE: I'm Roger Baele. I live at
1719 S. Taylor Street. I'm a member of the
board of the Rum Village Neighborhood
Association. We have been watching with
dismay the blight beginning to move into our
neighborhood, over which we seem to have
no control. So we very much welcome any
help we can get in this regard. Thank you.
MR. JORDAN: Dennis Jordan, 53215 W.
Oakmont. Lifelong resident of South Bend.
I am also dismayed and would truly like to
see the revitalization of the area. I have
many relatives and friends who I would say
are being forced out of the area because they
see their home for their families deteriorating
to a level that is unacceptable to them. I
would like to see you do anything you can to
redevelop the area, both commercially,
economically, and also for the people who
live in South Bend and who are the core of
our future. Thank you.
-26-
