I will be leaving with you <br />the ...... taken from our CONNECT education <br />survey, a statement on Riley and I'll just read <br />a little bit of it: <br />"Riley received performance -based grants for <br />1990 and 1991. The Riley Fine Arts program <br />has won more gold keys than all other schools <br />in Indiana. The Riley review of George H. <br />Gallup high school newspaper and their <br />journalism program rank among the top 15 in <br />the nation... National award - winning video <br />camera club .... Riley's public relations <br />brochure ranked number one in Indiana. A <br />half million dollars worth of scholarships and <br />grants awarded in 1992, Seniors." <br />Hardly a performance that would suggest, as <br />you have in your report, that the school does <br />not meet the standards, academically, as such. <br />Indeed, detailed architectural analysis of the <br />Riley building indicates that it can be <br />completely renovated at a cost of $8,615,000. <br />Now, this is a fairly closely guarded secret. <br />But I'll leave with you.... This is from the <br />actual report "South Bend Community School <br />Corporation, Riley High School Feasibility <br />Study" identified renovation needs at Riley, <br />and this is backed up with some very <br />-18- <br />
